Interserver vs Hostinger vs Cloudways (Best Cheap Hosting) 2021 Comparison

If you’re lurking on the wide spectrum of the internet just to look for the best web hosting provider, this is your time to stop.

I am telling you to stop…

Because I will be guiding you to the right path of where the pot of this golden web host is.

Hello! This is Apple and this article will help you choose among the top three web host providers I have on my list which are Interserver, Hostinger, and Cloudways. I will expose each of them so that you can choose which among them is the best for you.

In the digital era, the competition becomes tougher and more aggressive. To help you give an advantage over your competitors, web hosting serves as a tool to make your website more accessible online.

To help you assess which among these providers will attend to your web hosting needs, I will be testing them all for you.

Below are the three providers I recommend:

1. Interserver
2. Hostinger
3. Cloudways

I suggest you list down first what services do you look forward to in web hosting to make this decision-making easier.

Read with me until the end so I can guide you on these three providers. Let’s begin!

Interserver vs Hostinger vs Cloudways: Which Offers The Cheapest Deal?

Price for me is a major factor in decision-making. The first question I ask sellers or providers is “HM”.

HM simply means… “How Much?”

Amount matters but I also ask what’s in it for me? I don’t want to invest, no matter how cheap or expensive to me, if it’s not something I can get a positive result from.

In this article, I will also look into other perspective and factors which I think you should consider before getting a web host. Price, ease of setup, and performance… are the things I would ou want to carefully examine.

Anyway, I will always remind you that the best web host provider, or basically any kind of service, is the one that will cater to your needs.

If you’re just getting it for the trend, I bet Mona Lisa will frown on you. I don’t want that, do you?

Stay with me until the end so you could also read my straight-up recommendation.

Interserver: The Older Web Host

It’s been 22 long years since Interserver started serving the internet. Not the oldest I know but you bet it’s older than any of past my relationship.

Although they have existed that long, they weren’t successful in completely dominating the market. They got out of the radar because of the existence of other giant corporations like GoDaddy, Bluehost, and a lot more.

But if you consider them, they actually have one of the most flexible and cheap web hostings out there. They have extra features included in their plans as you can see in the photo below, which others don’t offer.

Unlike any other providers, Interserver doesn’t require you to pay a hundred bucks upfront.

For marketing strategy purposes, some providers will post that they’re offering you this low amount without disclosing that you need to get it in a longer subscription. Don’t you think it’s clickbait?

Because for me it is.

You will be forced to pay more and long before you knew it, you have actually spent more than what you thought is the “lowest price” ever.

Interserver offers this flexible billing that you won’t be able to experience with others.

Just like that. If you want to go, you can go anytime.

Also, you can get discounts if you have a code. You can click here to go Interserver.com to get your discount code.

Interserver Pricelock Feature

One crazy thing I really like about Interserver is their price lock feature.

Prices change from time to time. Plans and packages evolve through time as well.

However, Interserver guarantees you that once you purchase a plan with them, you are completely immune to any future price increase or changes. This is the best advantage you’ll have as a subscriber.

To give you a better concept of this amazing price lock feature, let’s say you have a subscription to GoDaddy. After a month or two, they announced a price increase.

Basically, this increase will affect all their subscribers. With Interserver, they won’t do that to you because of the price lock.

The amount you pay upon signing up will be the same until you terminate your subscription.

I know you must be thinking that this is too good to be true but Interserver offers you a crazy package at a low price. How crazy?

That crazy! You’re getting yourself lots of resources and premium features for 5 bucks.

Let me repeat myself, 5 bucks. Not convinced yet? Go check out Interserver.com here to see their prices.

Performance Tested

Interserver really killed the price domination in the market. Now, it is time to do the checking and if the performance is at par with the price.

I conducted a test by using my existing basic website below:

I created this basic WordPress site in 5 to 10 minutes using their automatic server installation. After creating it, I did a test to check their speed time.

The result is here:

The website loaded in 1.3 seconds. I also checked out their Time To First Byte (TTFB) and the result:

The results are incredibly fast given with the price. You’ll only get this kind of result from other providers by paying around 20$ to 50$ more.

Do you want to pay more? If so, just give it to me and I’ll get you a plan with Interserver. Being a middleman sounds like a good business. (Update: I am still a blogger as of now)

The only flaw I find about Interserver is their control panel. If you’ve noticed in my previous articles, you know I’m a sucker for an easy setup dashboard.

Interserver’s control panel is a bit outdated. Take a look at it below:

That is how their control panel looks like in the backend. This kind of setup brings back the memories of old computers.

Overall, I must say Interserver offers an exceptional deal. They might not be as well-known compared to these giant companies, but they own exclusive data centers.

I can also feel that they are more customer-centered than profits. You can initially visit Interserver.com here to check their website.

Hostinger: The Cheapest Web Host

Another web host provider I can recommend is Hostinger.

This provider is getting more attraction in the market because of their newest technology. They have teamed up with Litespeed to boost their website speed with an innovative network infrastructure.

All these features are included within the low-cost package. You can get a single hosting plan that starts from .99cents a month.

If you’re born lucky, you can even get it for only .89 cents a month if you have a coupon code. You can go to Hostinger.com here to check if they have available codes for discounts.

The only downside I can see on Hostinger is that you can only get lower prices for each month if you subscribe for a longer period of time. You need to pay upfront for the plan computed in years depending on the period you chose.

Let’s say you chose the 4 years plan, so you need to pay it in advance and you won’t have to worry about it in the next 4 years. It should be paid in one payment.

For 0.99cents a month, you get 100 GB of bandwidth. You also get 10 GB worth of storage, a free SSL certificate, and a special offer of a free domain.

Hostinger has its own network infrastructure and developed an in-house control panel.

Performance and Speed time

Let’s check if Hostinger passes our performance test. I did the same test on other providers to check their speed time.

Using the same website I created earlier for Interserver. In addition, I used an SSL Certificate. I have also integrated the Litespeed Cache Engine together with the 7.4 PHP version:

The result is here:

My website loaded in 1.6 seconds with a Time To First Byte of 0.4 seconds.

This result is slower than Interserver. Anyway, this is a 1$ plan a month for general hosting.

A top speed result for a dollar is quite dreamy. Let’s snap out of that dream, shall we?

Anyway, this result is good for the price they imposed. You’ll get access to their control once you sign up.

You can also get a discount by clicking here to go to Hostinger.com and get as much as 10% off.

Cloudways: A Powerful Web Host

I’m now down to the last provider I will recommend to you which is Cloudways.

This a more powerful solution compared to the other two but you will be needing more technical knowledge. However, if you know how to set it up properly, you won’t have any problems with it.

I assure you you’ll get a hundred bucks worth of performance without really spending a lot. Cloudways offers services by associating with top-tier providers like Google, Amazon, or Vultr.

They allow their subscribers to rent a Virtual Private Server (VPS) with the top-of-the-line providers I mentioned above. They are acting as a middleman between you and your chosen provider.

Signing up with them is free and they won’t even ask you for a credit card. You just need to provide them your phone and email address and you’ll get a 3 days free trial. (You can click here to go to Cloudways.com and claim your 3 days free trial.)

You’ll get access to their control panel and mind you, their dashboard is one of the easiest to use.

Other perks given by Cloudways is that you’ll get a free SSL Certificate, a firewall, and gives you automated updates of your website that are for free.

One thing that I think the best feature of Cloudways is their “Vertical Scaling”. This feature uses their hourly billing system and through this, you’ll get a track of what you use and pay only for that.

All you have to do is move the slider on the scale according to the size of the server you want. With this awesome feature, you can manage your server in just a slide.

Of course, as you slide longer, that means your billing will increase. But that’s the magic of vertical scaling, you get to control your expenditures accordingly.

When Cloudways says they’re transparent, they mean it. You can see the breakdowns of your billings and identify which service you mostly spend more on.

Performance Tested

This article won’t go by without testing each provider. Let’s see if Cloudways can beat the others in terms of the speed time.

Take note that Cloudways is a cloud-based host provider which offers VPS. Technically, I am expecting it to be faster than the average speed time.

During this test, I used the same website for the other provider to be fair. The test result is shown below:

Yes! It only took 1.2 seconds for my website to fully load. Let’s take a look at the Time To First Byte (TTFB):

It only took 0.2 seconds to Time To First Byte. Evidently speaking, this is the fastest among the three providers not to mention the cost.

You can do the test as well by clicking here to go to Cloudways.com and check the free trial.

My Recommendation: Which Is The Best Host For You?

I know you’ve been waiting for my honest opinion and here it is.

After conducting the same test on the three providers, I can tell you the best based on my preference. However, this isn’t about me so I’ll give you a recommendation that is based on your needs.

If you’re restricting your budget and not sure about a long-term commitment, I would say that Interserver is your best option. You can terminate the subscription anytime if you don’t like their service.

Feel free to check out Interserver.com here to know more about their services.

If you want a long-term investment at a lower price and can pay upfront, for sure you can be at peace with Hostinger. You’ll be updated with the newest technology and control your website with premium features.

Visit Hostinger.com here to get their cheapest plan.

But if you’re really looking for a powerful and more customized plan, you’ll never go wrong with Cloudways. With your advanced knowledge, I can tell you will have the best performance with them since they are using exclusive VPS for an affordable price.

Go to Cloudways.com here to get their best plan.

Nonetheless, I believe that they don’t differ that much in terms of pricing. However, choose the one that will help you in terms of your goals.

Now, I want you to ask yourself if does any of these providers have filled your needs. If not, then maybe you’d like to check out these similar articles:
