Cloudways Pricing (Tested)

Cloudways is a cloud-based hosting platform. They support applications like WordPress, Magento, Google Cloud, and a lot more.

All you have to do is choose from the applications on the top and it will show you the plans they offer. You can also go to here to check out their price list.

Also, take note that the prices and plans differ for every application.

I checked out Digital Ocean, and their price starts from 10$ and that’s the basic package I believe.

However, you can get this cheaper if you purchase it directly in Digital Ocean but you won’t get the support and dashboard which will make it hard for you to customize or manage your website.

You can choose from those applications depending on what you use. For this article, I will choose Vultr.

As you can see, their plans differ in every application. For Vultr, it starts from 13$ as the basic package.

You can choose from either a standard or high-frequency plan depending on your needs. Of course, you will be paying more if you need more resources.

You can choose first the best plan that will cater to your needs for now and maybe expand later on if you need more than what you have. To do so, just click here to go to to upgrade your plan.

What I personally like about their plans is they don’t have a locked-in contract. You can either cancel or upgrade it anytime you want.

Another thing that I like about Cloudways is that they are storage-based. You can have many websites for each plan so long as your storage is enough for them.

But the best thing about Cloudways is that they also offer free website migration. Your website will be personally migrated by their support team. (You may contact here to know more about this service.)

I will choose the basic plan for now which starts at 13$ with storage of 32GD and bandwidth of 1TB.

You will be redirected to the Sign-Up page and create your account. Input the information they need. (You can also click here to go to to create your account.)

If you have a promo code, just type it in. If it’s valid, there will be a tick and you can proceed.

It’s scoring time! You can rate them as well using your pen and paper.

For me, I will give them a score of 9 out of 10 in terms of pricing. Their plan comes with basically what you need.

They will provide you their own CDN and your files are backed up automatically every day. They basically cover most of the servers so you can choose more options.

However, I deducted one point because I don’t think their three-day free trial is enough.

Normally, it’s a 30-days free trial with a money-back guarantee but of course, it differs.

Cloudways Setup and Ease of Use (My Results)

Cloudways dashboard appears like this:

They have two sections which are the service and application. To go over their functions, just toggle the bar between them.

The service section is your overall function.

The application section is your control relating to your WordPress website.

Now, it’s time to check if it’s really easy to install and create my WordPress website. Just pick what you want to install, write the name of your app, and the server.

Since I chose Vultr earlier, I’ll stick to that. I will choose the high-frequency plan. (You can click here to go to to check the other applications.)

You can change the setting to your preference; i.e- location.

All set up, and it’s time to add the server.

It might take a few minutes to pin the server.

Now, let’s go to the SSL Certificate.

I will be adding it to my website as well. To do so, just go to the “Applications” section and choose the website you want to add the certificate to.

Click the “SSL Certificate” option.

You need to type in your email address and the domain name. Once you’re done, just click “Install Certificate”.

Rating’s up!

I find their platform easy to use and navigate. It’s clean and it has a comprehensive user interface.

I will rate them with a 9 out of 10 score.

I deducted one point because they do not offer you the domain name which most web host providers have. They also do not have the email hosted on your website unless you pay for it as extra.

It could be easier if they can associate that with their plan. I find it complicated which makes it hard to use.

Cloudways Speed & Uptime Performance

After my website was created and installed in Cloudways, it’s time to do a performance test.

Cloudways has been rumored as one of the fastest caching plugins beating the record of WordPress. After the test, here are the results:

I must say, this is not the fastest I have ever seen but it’s almost close though. Flat one is not bad at all, right?

Now, let’s step up the challenge. I added new pages and some design elements.

Cloudways has their server-level caching so I will be using this one. Since it is recommended, I will install it.

Click on “Settings and Package” and then install Redis.

I installed a ShortPixel Image Optimizer for the images.

Lastly, I installed Cloudways’ Content Delivery Network (CDN) to increase the website’s performance.

After installing everything, my website with more pages and customized design is up looking like this:

Now, it’s time to do another speed test with the changes I made to the website.

As you can see, the page loaded in just 1.1 seconds.

I have no doubt they are one of the fastest hosting providers I have ever tested and have passed Google’s standard site load speed.

In addition, I have also conducted a monitoring test on Cloudways for the past 30 days and they have never let me down. Their uptime is amazingly scored 100%. (Click here to go to to check their speed time.)

Cloudways Review: Customer Support

Every time I avail of some services, I always look up to their support. Let’s see if Cloudways could satisfy their clients with their support.

Cloudways customer service operates 24/7. Client’s can reach them out through email and live chats but no phone support.

I contacted them three times on the same day through their live chat support. Each query has different issues to check how they handle each.

My first concern was about my website getting infected by a virus. Here’s a reply from them:

It’s disappointing how they refuse to run a test to help me sort things out. In most cases, other providers will do it for you for free.

I even offered an upgrade of their support even though I am a premium plan subscriber already, but they still refused it.

My second concern was about their domain name and how much it costs

Since they do not have support for those who haven’t availed of their plan yet, I had to contact them through email. It was okay this time.

On the third time I contacted them, I asked if they could add my SSL Certificate and my own CDN since I am just a beginner.

I have to repeat myself before they agree to add it.

I am also disappointed with my request to install my own CDN. They just referred me to one of their articles and had me follow the guide.

However, they did a good job on their response time. They are quick in responding with an average waiting time of 1:48 minutes.

I believe that the maximum waiting time for chat support is around 5 minutes.

Overall, I would give them a failing score of 4 out of 10. I don’t mean any personal grudge, but my queries so far are easy to resolve.

It is as though they’re not willing to do the extra mile for me. I am truly disappointed.

Cloudways Features (Pros and Cons)

So far, my experience with Cloudways is great. To help you better understand what I like and dislike about them, allow me to share to you the pros and cons I have observed.

What I Dislike About Cloudways

Cloudways does not offer customer support for those who haven’t signed up yet which I find quite silly. I mean, why not?

Also, if you look at it, you need to be a premium subscriber before you could get better customer support

Another cons I have noticed is that they have hidden charges and unnecessary upsell.

As for the email which they don’t include in your package, you need to pay an extra $1 a month.

They have it on the daily backup:

Lastly, they have it on CDN too:

They also have an upsell on their customer support which I find odd. It’s surprising because I have never reviewed anyone before that asks for a customer support upsell.

I find these upsell unnecessary because normally, they are being offered for free.

Other than those cons, I have totally enjoyed Cloudways.

What I Like About Cloudways

One of the things I like is that their website speed time is really good. They have an overall impressive performance.

I have to highlight as well that their uptime is really amazing. They’re not just fast, but also reliable too.

Another pro about them is that their pricing starts from a low cost too. At 10$ per month, it’s the lowest so far I have seen.

They also offer a wide variety of specs and resources.

I also like how they do not limit the websites you can create as long as your storage can handle them all. Their backend system is really easy to use and navigate.

They have over 65 to 70 locations in different countries which make your market wider. You can reach out to other places outside of the United States.

Lastly, their website migration service is really awesome. They can personally migrate your website to your new or existing provider.

You can contact them after signing up through their live chat. You can ask them for free.

There are not many providers out there that offer the same.

My Unbiased Recommendation – Is Cloudways Recommendable?

Overall, I would like to give them an average score of 8.5 out of 10.

Cloudways is amazing. From the price, set up and navigation, speed and uptime performance, and features; they really did a good job.

It could have been almost perfect if not for the kind of customer support they have. It won’t cost them a single penny to exert an extra hand on their subscribers.

Also, I think it is better if they can also give support to those who haven’t signed up yet. It’s actually a good way for other potential subscribers to get to know them more.

However, if you’re just starting with web hosting, I would recommend you check out Namecheap. They can offer you the same service at a low cost too.
