GreenGeeks: The Cheapest Web Hosting

The first on my list, and by the way, this isn’t in chronological order, is GreenGeeks.

Rumors have it that Greengeeks is really fast for the price they are offering. Well, I’ll let you witness that firsthand later on my speed and uptime test.

Are you ready to get to know more Greengeeks? If so, please scroll down.

Greengeeks offers their basic plan for as low as $2.49 every month.

Their plans are really cheap and they offer an awesome package.

All of their plans offer you a free domain name (which usually costs you around $10-$13 per year if bought separately) for your first year of subscription, automatic daily backup, and LiteSpeed cache.

For $2.49 every month, you enjoy these basic services they offer. I would really recommend them if you’re quite uptight on your budget.

Speed and Uptime Performance

I bought a plan with them to show you their speed and uptime test.

I installed the Litespeed cache plugin which is included in all of their hosting plans.

I put to test my website and here is the result:

My website is fully loaded in just 1.4 seconds which I consider to be really fast and it passes my standard speed time.

To check Greengeeks’ overall performance, I have also monitored their uptime in the last 30 days, and here is the result:

They have been 100% up all the time and in fact, they have been consistent for the past 95 days.

Setup and Ease of Use

Greengeeks uses a simple cPanel user interface with a little bit of customization.

For me, it looks really simple and clean.

With their user-friendly interface, you can add your own SSL certificate in just a few taps.

Just like their SSL Certificate, I find it really easy to install my WordPress blog as well.

So in only a couple of minutes, my website is all up and ready for the web game.

GreenGeeks has three data centers in three different locations.

Greengeeks’ data centers are located across the US, Canada, and Europe. To be honest, I have seen other providers who own more data centers than GreenGeek.

But I’d say, it is still good if you’re eyeing to expand outside the United States.

Customer Support

I always believe that the heart of all kinds of services is their customer support.

Greengeeks offers its customer support through email, live chat, and phone calls.

Their lines are available 24/7.

I personally contacted their support through their live chat and raised three of my concerns:

1. My website has been infected by a virus.
2. How much is your renewal cost for a domain name?
3. Can you please help me install my SSL Certificate and CloudFare?

They installed my SSL Certificate and as well as the CloudFare CDN.

As for the renewal cost of a domain name, they have also provided me with an accurate answer.

They have also scanned my website for the malware.

Sadly, they did not remove the malware that has infected my website but it’s okay because it’s not part of their service anyway.

I have also monitored their average handling time and all throughout the different sessions with their support, they have a minimum of 16 minutes response time.

Overall, I find GreenGeeks to be really promising. They have catered to my basic needs without spending too much.

However, their customer support takes too long to respond and this has affected my score for them.

That’s why I am giving GreenGeeks a score of 8.5 out of 10.

If you want to know more about their plans, you can go to here and explore their platform.

A2 Hosting: The Fastest Web Hosting

A2 Hosting is the next provider that is on my favorite list that I have personally used.

They have a lot of cool features that are part of their plans. They also have the best support when it comes to shared hosting.

If you’re looking for a provider that gives excellent customer support for your blog, no doubt A2 Hosting is the best option for you.

In the next part of this article, you’ll learn more about them.

A2 Hosting offers its basic plan for $2.99 every month.

It’s as cheap as Greengeeks with a slide difference of a few cents. All their plans offer personal website migration for free.

However, if you want to enjoy the best performance of A2 Hosting, I suggest you get their premium plans which are either Turbo Boost or Turbo Max.

These plans come with NVMe storage and LiteSpeed Cache server which will enable you to install their own A2 Optimizer.

A2 Optimized claims that it will help your website load faster. Although you’re paying for a higher price, I believe the results are all worth it.

How fast? I’ll show you in the next section.

Speed and Uptime Performance

I bought their Turbo Max plan so I can use their A2 Optimized plugin.

I conducted two tests here to show you the difference between with and without their A2 Optimized.

The first test was conducted without their A2 optimized plugin. Here is the result:

My webpage took 2.3 seconds to load.

On my second test, I installed their A2 Optimized and here is the result:

My website loaded in just 1.8 seconds. There’s a .5 seconds difference.

I have no doubts why they are one of the fastest shared hosting providers in the industry.

I have also monitored their uptime and the result is:

As you can see from the photo above, their uptime is 99.98%. Sadly is not as good, not as good as Greengeeks’ result but it definitely passed my minimum requirement which is 99.95%.

Setup and Ease of Use

A2 Hosting uses the standard cPanel user interface.

This kind of cPanel is commonly used by other providers so I don’t think this is hard to navigate.

You can install your WordPress in their user interface.

You will also find the installation of your SSL Certificate on it. Although it looks simple and easy, I find their process quite ugly.

A2 Hosting has four data centers in different countries which beat Greengeeks with 1 extra data center.

You can find these data centers in the United States, Europe, and some parts of Asia.

Customer Support

Greengeeks’ customer service is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by email, live chat, and phone calls.

Using the three questions I have asked the support team of Greengeeks, A2 Hosting did an overall good job.

They helped me install my SSL certificate and even the CloudFare CDN.

They have also scanned my website to figure out the malware.

They were also willing to send me a report about the malware but they did not remove it at all as expected.

I computed an average response time of 3 minutes and 30 seconds for them. It is not the fastest I have ever seen but they definitely passed my standard time of 5 minutes.

A2 Hosting is a solid host for me and I honestly like their unique features like the A2 Optimized cache plugin and personal website migration for free.

However, I kinda didn’t like their installation process. I find it odd and a bit complicated compared to Greengeeks.

For that, I am giving A2 Hosting an average score of 8.5 out of 10.

If you’re interested in them, you can go to here to know more about their awesome features and get their best current deal.

Kinsta: The Best Web Hosting Package

I am now down to my last favorite web hosting provider I have used which is Kinsta.

I am not saying that I am saving the best for the last, but ops, I think I just did.

Kinsta is not just your typical web hosting provider, but they are more of a managed WordPress cloud hosting solution which I really think your blog site will benefit from.

I am excited to share with you all everything about Kinsta and what I like about them, so please bear with me until the end.

Kinsta offers its basic plan for $30 per month.

It is quite expensive compared to the first two web hosting providers I have mentioned. but if budget is not a problem and really want an extremely fast and secure hosting provider, I would really recommend Kinsta.

I assure you though that they are one of the finest hosting companies in the market. They are good for your blog site.

To justify their expensive plans, Kinsta uses the Google Cloud platform to boost their performance and to provide us top-notch customer service.

You’ll get a free SSL Certificate and you can use their own CDN.

With their own CDN, it helps any website load faster than using the normal WordPress caching. They also use their own server-side caching.

I have no doubt they would perform faster and better than the A2 Hosting or Greengeeks. Check out the following segment for proof.

Speed and Uptime Performance

I bought their cheapest plan which is at $30 every month to check out their speed performance.

After setting up my website in Kinsta, I conducted a test using GTMetrix, and here is the result:

My website fully loaded in just 1.1 seconds and that makes Kinsta the fastest web hosting provider among the companies I have tested for this article.

Of course, to be fair, I have also checked their uptime, and here is the result:

It’s a perfect 100% for the past 45 days.

If your blog site has a lot of visitors, you can rely on Kinsta for the best blog site experience for your readers because they don’t crash when a lot of people land on your website. I’m currently using them with one of the high traffic websites and they handle the peak hours perfectly.

Setup and Ease of Use

Kinsta uses its own custom user interface.

I find it super easy to use and most importantly, it is very comprehensive. I didn’t have a hard time navigating because everything is laid out perfectly.

Installing your WordPress blog is super easy too.

All you have to do is click the next few steps and your blog site is set up.

I have also installed my SSL Certificate.

I did not encounter any problems. It was simple and very easy.

Kinsta has the widest data centers all over the world, beating the other web hosting providers.

Their data centers are located across 24 locations all around the globe. They are the widest in terms of their server’s outreach.

So, if you want your romantic blog site to reach Paris, Kinsta will run the extra mile for you.

Customer Support

Kinsta’s world-class customer support is available 24/7 through their email and live chat.

Using the same three questions I have asked Greengeeks and A2 Hosting customer support, Kinsta’s support has outshined them.

  1. They scanned my blog site for any possible malware.
  1. They have also immediately installed my SSL Certificate and CloudFare CDN.

  1. But the best thing they ever did is remove the malware on my blog site for free.

For their average handling time, I am also surprised by how quickly they attend to my queries. I have tallied a total of 1 minute and 30 seconds as their average response time.

Overall, Kinsta did an awesome performance.

I am amazed by their user-friendly interface, how fast they load my blog site, and how quick their customer support team is responding.

However, the only restraint I can see why I could not recommend Kinsta for everyone is because of their pricing. But if you have lots of money, then I could not see any reason why you should not partner with them.

I am giving Kinsta an overall score of 9.5 out of 10.

You can go to here to avail their cheapest plan. (This is the best deal I managed to find)

My Honest Recommendation: Who Is The Real Winner?

You all know who my real winner is, but to give you an insight into how they are different from each other. Don’t worry, I will give you my unbiased opinion.

Undeniably, Greengeeks is the cheapest of all hosting providers for your blog. If your budget is not enough to purchase a top-tier web hosting provider, I recommend you try Greengeeks.

They are cheap and their performance is good as well. However, if you need constant customer support, I don’t think you can rely on them.

If you think this is the perfect web hosting provider for your blog site, you can go to here and check out their latest and cheapest plan.

A2 Hosting offers very cheap plans as well. In terms of price, the only difference they have between Greengeeks is the extra .5 cents.

If you want to get the most out of A2 Hosting, you may need to upgrade to one of their premium plans. You can use their A2 Optimized feature if you buy either the Turbo Max or Turbo Boost plans.

But they are another solid option I recommend. You can go to here and get their premium plans and see the best price I managed to find you.

Lastly, if your budget permits you to buy a plan from a top-notch web hosting provider, I recommend you purchase from Kinsta.

You can unleash the best potential of your blog site just by getting their cheapest plan. They have a lot of awesome features included in the basic plan.

They are also extremely fast, have their own CDN network, and top-notch customer service that actually responds fast.

If you wish to take a look at them, you can go to here and see their updated plans. (This is the best deal you can currently get)

As you can see, all of these providers are really good but it now depends on which one of them can give your blog site the best performance.
