Are you wondering whether VPS hosting plan is right for your website? Have you considered one provider to buy a subscription with?
If you haven’t decided yet, let me change your mind on what you should look for when you pick a VPS hosting provider by sharing with you my top 3 favorite ones I’ve used.
Hello! My name is Apple and for this article, I will be sharing with you three of my favorite VPS hosting providers. I will give you my unbiased opinion about each provider so can see if they are a good fit for your website.
Virtual Private Servers, or VPS, is a virtual computer that an Internet hosting business sells as a service. If you’ve had enough with using flow shared hosting, then maybe you might want to explore VPS as a better alternative and pick another hosting provider.
VPS allows fewer sites to share allotted segments of hard drive space, memory, and processing power, as opposed to shared hosting, which allows numerous sites to use a single web server with no assurance of resources
For this article, I will share with you my thoughts on the three VPS hosting providers I can recommend which are:
If you want to know more about them, hang on with me until the end.
A2 Hosting vs ScalaHosting vs Cloudways: Which Is The Best VPS Hosting?
Before I proceed with my take on each provider, I would like you to remember that these VPS hosting plans are not created equally. Their performance depends on how powerful is the hardware they use.
However, there are a lot VPS hosting providers that do not disclose the type of hardware they use. I would say that is where the misleading part creeps in.
How would I know what I am paying for if they won’t disclose these important details?
The best way for me and you to find out is to contact them and ask directly, what hardware do you use? By the way, to save you some time, I did ask them already.
To my surprise, most of the providers I contacted disclosed that they are using Intel Xeon CPU which was released around 2013 or 2014.
Guess what? This isn’t a “Throwback Thursday”, but a major carry-over back to 2013 or 2014.
I can imagine my fresh 2013 self singing to “Dumb Ways to Die” while getting used to the new slang, “Selfie.” What are your best 2013 memories?
Anyway, Intel has created a lot of different series over the years. However, I could not determine which series are mostly used by these VPS hosting providers.
You can also ask the type of storage they have to determine if their hosting service is powerful enough. Is it SSD or HDD?
You must check as well the RAM speed because it has a big impact on their performance.
The real question here is, which among these VPS hosting providers have the newest technology for an affordable price?
If this sparks your interest, you might want to stay with me until the very end of this article to know my unbiased thoughts.
A2 Hosting: The Cheapest VPS Hosting
A2 Hosting is the first on my list of the most recommended VPS hosting provider.
It is a no-brainer why A2 Hosting has always been considered the cheapest VPS hosting. They offer plans as low as $5 a month for an unmanaged service.
One of the nicest things about A2 hosting is that you can adjust the settings of your VPS for an extra fee.
You can tweak their configuration settings according to your needs. You can also choose your data plan.
A2 Hosting has different server locations.
So, if you have plans to go worldwide, A2 is a good choice. You can choose whatever server you prefer.
I checked out their website performance by conducting a test using GTMetrix and here is the result:
The only reason why I will not recommend A2 hosting is because of its ease of use. I have mentioned earlier that they are unmanaged VPS hosting services which means you will have to figure out everything on your own.
However, if you are on a tight budget but are looking for good-performing hosting, I can guarantee you that A2 Hosting can help you.
You can check out A2hosting.com here to find out more about their hosting services.
ScalaHosting: The Best VPS Hosting For Beginners
ScalaHosting is a great VPS hosting provider with great plans to offer.
Unlike A2 Hosting, ScalaHosting offers fully managed VPS hosting services.
Their plan starts from $9.95 a month.
It’s 2x more expensive than A2 Hosting but I assure you, you won’t have to worry about managing your site and server because of their easy-to-use control panel. Managed VPS hosting can easily install an application and manage your WordPress website without any issues.
Meanwhile, unmanaged VPS hosting does not have an interface.
For less than $10, you will get an sPanel Control Panel, daily remote backups, dedicated IP address, and a lot more.
A managed VPS hosting is really better than the unmanaged provider in terms of their ease of use and navigation.
One thing I like about ScalaHosting is they are open to a short-term commitment.
As you can see, you can buy a plan for a month and there is no significant difference in terms of their pricing.
You can also customize your plans depending on your need with their “Customize Your Server” feature.
They really have my vote in terms of customizing my plan and as well as my server.
I did an inquiry about their hardware, sad to say, they are not running on the latest version.
As you can see, they are running on Intel ® Xeon ® CPU with the E5-2620 series and I believe this was released around 2013.
Even though their hardware is outdated, they take advantage anyway of their high-speed RAM and SSD storage.
I mean it when I said they are easy to use. A2 Hosting uses the sPanel that acts like a cPanel on shared hosting.
You will be able to add an email account, your SSL Certificate, and allows you to manage your WordPress site.
You can add your WordPress site in just a few clicks.
You will have to follow the steps and your site is ready.
You see, ScalaHosting is the best option for beginners. You won’t have to worry about managing everything in just one end because of their sPanel, everything is just a click away.
A big check for a good performance and easy-to-use control panel. You can go to ScalaHosting.com here to find out more about their sPanel and the latest discounted pricing.
Cloudways: The Most Powerful VPS Hosting
Cloudways is the most diverse and powerful VPS hosting I have ever seen in the industry.
What a brilliant mind, isn’t it? They act as a middleman between these providers to give excellent and full-packed service to us.
Every company they are tied up with has different pricing rates. As you can see, their plan starts at $12 for the Linode company.
I know they are not the cheapest in the market but in case you’re wondering what are you paying for, let me tell you.
These giant server providers do not offer support and a customized panel that will allow you to manage your site on your end. Because of that, Cloudways come up with this crazy idea of meddling between you and these providers so you can have a better hosting experience.
In addition to their easy-to-use cPanel, you will also get extra security and 24/7 customer support. Unfortunately, their support is not as good as A2 Hosting or ScalaHosting but that’s better than nothing, right?
Cloudways has this awesome feature called “Vertical Scaling”.
You can customize your resources depending on what you really need.
Also, they have a transparent billing that will tell you your hourly consumption and where it is used.
Through this, you will know your hourly expenditures and you will only have to pay for what you have used. No extra fees and hidden costs
Their cPanel provides you a one-click installation on any application you like such as your WordPress website.
With only one click, you will install your desired application.
In my most honest opinion, Cloudways is a powerful VPS hosting. It is a perfect combination of easy-to-use software without compromising the quality of hardware they use.
I believe you can do more with Cloudways’ awesome features and the huge variety of different plans you can choose from. You can go to Cloudways.com here and check their best current offers. Trust me, you won’t get anything better.
My Unpopular Opinion: Which Is The Best VPS Hosting?
To be honest, these three companies are not just the only VPS hosting providers that can give you a better deal. However, they are outstanding when it comes to price, interface, ease of use, and performance they offer.
I have no doubt that Cloudways beat the other two providers in this showoff. They offer a huge variety of different packages that will benefit anyone in any situation.
Although their support is not that satisfactory, I am pretty sure you won’t have a hard time navigating on their platform because they have one of the best user interfaces I’ve ever seen.
You can go to Cloudways.com here if you are planning to check their best current prices and see their full package of plans.
If you are afraid of a long-term commitment, ScalaHosting can accommodate you even in the shortest period. They are also a great managed VPS hosting provider so no doubt you won’t have a hard time navigating their sPanel.
However, for the price they offer, their services are not as powerful as Cloudways.
You can visit ScalaHosting.com here to find out the latest VPS pricing deals and plans.
Lastly, if you’re just starting with hosting and don’t have a big budget allocated for it, you can always try A2 Hosting and their speed and performance are also really good. They are really cheap and have different servers around the world.
But since they are unmanaged VPS hosting, it might be a bit hard for you to use them. Their platform does not come with a control panel that allows you to manage your site easily.
There are a lot of hosting providers that are claiming they have good VPS hosting. Honestly, I only find A2 Hosting among these providers to stand behind their words because I’ve actually used them and really know what they offer.
You can click here to go to A2hosting.com to see their cheapest plans and see if they currently offer a great deal.
Now, these are my top 3 choices, but from my experience, I can say that all of them are good. So take a look at their price, speed, performance, and features and pick the one that fits your needs the best.
